The general assembly

The general assembly brings together all the members of the association. As HASDI's sovereign body, it decides on the association's orientations, receives the reports on its management and activities, and elects the members of the Board. It is the framework within which the members collectively exercise their oversight of the life of the association.

The Board

The Board is composed of three members elected by the general assembly for a one-year, renewable term: a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer (article 16 of the statutes). The offices of chairperson and treasurer may not be held by the same person. The Board administers the association, meets at least three times a year and reports on its management to the general assembly.

Board members serve on an entirely unpaid, voluntary basis. This statutory rule ensures that the association's resources are devoted to its mission, not to the remuneration of its officers.

Operational coordination

The day-to-day management of the association is carried out by a general coordinator. The coordinator prepares and implements the decisions of the Board, monitors programmes and local partners, and ensures that the association's procedures are properly applied. On a day-to-day basis, the coordinator is the main point of contact for local partners in the conduct of the programmes defined by the association.

A clear separation of roles

This organisation distinguishes the functions of direction and oversight, exercised by the general assembly and the Board, from the day-to-day conduct of operations, entrusted to the general coordinator. It meets the expectations of institutional donors in terms of governance and accountability: identified governing bodies, fixed-term mandates and disinterested management.
